Brief History of Sri Anjaneya swamy temple:

Sri Anjaneya swamy temple is late Medieval temple situated near Shivalayam and is in south-north orientation. It is a flat roofed temple consisting of a garbhagriha and a mandapa. The image of Lord Anjaneya swamy made of granite is placed in the garbhagriha facing south. A stone dhwajasthambhaim about 5 mts high stands infront of the temple. There are several erotic figures depicted on the dhwajasthambhaim.

The temple is located on the hill with ruined forts indicating that certain Palegars ruled the surrounding villages from the fort. There are also caves on the hillock and it is believed that buddhas (monks of Buddhism) used to do penance in the caves (gavis) on the hill. Therefore, the place is believed to be known as Buddhagavi and the name has been subsequently corrupted into Budagavi.
