Location: Kundurpi (Lat. 14°1736.1N; Long. 77°0153.1E) is situated 30 Kms away from Kalyandurg. The name is derived due to the local deity Kundurpamma.

Brief History of Kundurpi Fort:

It is one of the important hill forts of the district during the Post Vijayanagara period. One side of the hill is almost perpendicular. The fort upon it of which the ruins still remain was the residence of a well-known palegar in days gone by. Mackenzie manuscripts say that the first of the palegar family of Konetirayudu obtained it in 1652 A.D. from the Bijapur king.

The vestiges of a Jain Temple and icons of Thirthankaras can be seen in this village. On the way to the summit of the hill is the temple of the goddess Kundurpamma. The popular superstition is that ill-luck befalls on any official with magisterial power making a night halt at this place. Two pools on the hill i.e., in the fort area are known as Akka – Chellandla donalu (elder and younger sisters water spring) and this is a popular resort for those praying for children. There are a few temples in the fort, the chief of which is the Vishnu temple locally known as Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple along with the temple of Shiva and Anjaneya. Another conjecture is that the valley in which the village is located looks like a ditch or kandakam.
