CHENNAKESAVA SWAMY TEMPLE

Location: The Kallumadi village is 30 kms from Ananthapuramu District Headquarters town on Tarimala-Ananthapuramu road.
Brief History of Chennakesava swamy temple:
It is a late medieval temple situated (Lat. 14°55‘32.6”N; Long. 77°39‘16.8”E) in the midst of the village and it faces to north. It consists of a sanctum and a pillared hall. It has a pyramidal sikhara and profusely decorated with gods and goddesses figures and designs in lime and mortar and it is famous for its stucco figures. The temple wall is adorned with figures of Siva, Parvathi, Brahma, Garuda, Anjaneya, Krishna as Kaliya-Mardhani and Dasavataram. The mandapa has four pillars and it is enclosed on all the four sides.
The Vimana is two storyed with Kuta, panjara, sala series and circular sikhara. The facade and open portico of the temple is highly decorated with different types of gods and goddesses on lime which adds an additional attraction to the temple. The Temple faces major problems with rain water and roof leakage. The figures in lime are also damaged and the outer walls are cracked. The sikhara has minor cracks and leakage take conservation and restoration works for the temple.
