MALLAPPAKONDA SITE
Hulikallu (V), Kalyandurgam (M), Ananthapuramu (D)

Location: Hulikallu Village is situated (Lat. 14°35‘51.9”N; Long. 77°03‘59.7”E) at a distance of 10 Kms North–West of Kalyandurgam town and about 2 kms West of Kalyandurg -Rayadurgam road.
Brief History of the Mallappakonda site:
A big granite hill, locally known as Hulikallu Mallappakonda, lying about one (1) km East of the village and close to the west of the road, has thick habitation deposits. The Northern and Southern slopes and foot of the hill and all sides yielded stone tools artifacts of blade industry along with potsherds of grey and dull red wares. The foot of the hill of Hulikallu traces Pre-Historic habitation that has come to light in the recent years. Archaeology Department had conducted excavations at the foot of the Hulikal Hill and collected number of antiquities, urns of Neolithic – Chalcolithic period during the years 1976-78. They are kept on display in the Padmasri Kalluru Subbarao District Archaeological Museum, Ananthapuramu.
