PEACE MEMORIAL HALL, Court Road, Ananthapuramu town

Location: Peace Memorial Hall (Lat. 14°40‘35.0”N; Long. 77°35‘33.8”E) is located at Court road Ananthapuramu, the district headquarters town.
Brief History of Peace Memorial Hall:
‘Peace Memorial Hall’, in Ananthapuramu town is present in court road, in New Town area, near the District Court Building Complex. It is a grand structure in 2-acre area and is an important monument in the town. This elegant structure was constructed during the British period by on Indian Engineer Sri V.S.S. Raghavan. Its foundation stone was laid on 13-12-1919 by the Honorable C.C. Todhunter, I.C.S., Senior Member of Council of Fort St. George of the then Madras Presidency.
The Main intention and moto behind of this grand structure was to commemorate the termination of the 1st World War (1914-1918) by collecting the public contributions initiated by the elite personalities of the town. It was completed in two years and was opened by the Khan Bahadur Muhammad Habibulla Sahib Bahadur C.I.E. Member, Executive council Fort St. George on 7-11-1921. Since then it has become a center for good public activities and a community reading hall. The Architecture and the antique period of the Peace Memorial Hall is the considered as Heritage building and historical monument as per the Andhra Pradesh Ancient Historical Monuments Act-1960 of Archaeological sites and remains Act, 1960 (Andhra Pradesh Act-VII of 1960) Archaeological Survey of India. This grand structure is a pride to the Ananthapuramu town a memory and always reminds the visitor the importance of PEACE in the land of Factionism.
