INTRODUCTION:
This garment industry plays a significant role in employment generation, directly and indirectly providing livelihoods to around 50,000 people. Following agriculture, jeans production stands as the second largest employment avenue in the region, making Rayadurg a semi-urban area with a high concentration of skilled manpower. It is worth noting that nearly every household in Rayadurg is involved in some aspect of jeans manufacturing, such as cutting, stitching, dyeing, ironing, and packing. In essence, the entire town operates as one large production line.The workforce in this jeans manufacturing hub consists predominantly of women, comprising 60-70 percent of the total workforce. Many of these women hail from Rayadurg and nearby villages. The jeans manufactured in Rayadurg are supplied to various branded jeans companies and malls in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai etc as well as being exported to other parts of the country. Noted branded companies often choose to outsource their work orders to Rayadurg due to the region’s expertise in jeans production.

Smt. Valmiki Lakshmi, hails from OBC community. Smt V.Lakshmi , has availed financial assistance Term loan of Rs. 65.00 Lakhs from State Bank of India, Rayadurg. After obtaining financial assistance by State Bank of India, Rayadurg she has been established M/s Suma Garments, at Plot No.26, 74 Udegolam VI, Rayadurg engaged in the manufacture of Readymade garments unit, providing employment to 30 members. Sri V. Hemanth Kumar, her husband is assisting her in running and maintaining the unit. The unit has been supported with Investment Subsidy under IDP 2015-20 policy to an amount of Rs.36,40 Lakhs.
Upon requesting her response before and after establishment of own unit, she responded with gratitude and gratefulness towards Industries Department for immense support and guidance in every step right from Sanction of Loan from Bank, Approvals in Single desk portal, filing of application, Procurement of Machinery, establishment of plant, Power connection and up to receipt of subsidy within the time frame. Her financial status and living condition now has been elevated.

During the awareness program, participants were educated about the advantages of a CETP, which allows multiple entrepreneurs to collectively treat and process effluents generated from their respective units. By pooling resources and sharing the costs of treatment, entrepreneurs can significantly reduce their expenses on transport and dyeing charges.
The program highlighted the key features and benefits of the IPDS and CETP, including improved waste management, cost savings, compliance with environmental regulations, and the promotion of sustainable practices. Entrepreneurs were provided with detailed information on the process of establishing a CETP, including the necessary steps, guidelines, and support available from the government.
By organizing this awareness program, the government aimed to encourage entrepreneurs to adopt environmentally friendly and cost-effective practices through the establishment of a CETP. This initiative is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of the garment industry in Rayadurgam while minimizing the environmental impact and financial burden on individual entrepreneurs.

These regions are known for their expertise in manufacturing and supplying raw materials for the garment industry. By procuring materials from these reputable sources, entrepreneurs could ensure the quality and durability of their products.
- Emphasis was placed on the importance of using quality vegetable dyes and suitable packing materials in the garment manufacturing process. Vegetable dyes are preferred for their eco-friendly nature and non-toxic properties, contributing to sustainable and environmentally conscious practices. Additionally, the use of appropriate packing materials ensures that the finished garments are protected during transportation and maintain their quality until they reach the customers.
- Efforts were made to identify skilled labor and provide suitable job placements in garment units. Recognizing the significance of skilled workers in the garment industry, initiatives were undertaken to assess and identify individuals with relevant skills and experience. This facilitated the placement of skilled laborers in various garment units, ensuring that the workforce possessed the necessary expertise to contribute effectively to the production processes.
- By focusing on the procurement of quality raw materials, utilizing suitable dyes and packing materials, and ensuring the availability of skilled labor, the aim was to enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of the garments produced in Rayadurgam. Training programs focused on Zuki Machines in garmenting are organized for rural unemployed women. These programs are arranged by the Park Administrator of the Textile Park in Rayadurgam. The objective is to equip rural women with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate Zuki Machines effectively. Additionally, the Textile Park facilitates placements for these trained women in various garment units, providing them with employment opportunities.
The Industries Department is responsible for processing applications to claim subsidies provided under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). These subsidies aim to support and promote entrepreneurship and small-scale industries in Rayadurgam. The Industries Department reviews and assesses the applications submitted by eligible individuals or enterprises and facilitates the disbursement of subsidies accordingly.
